Back in August last year, Amazon introduced its end-to-end quantum computing service. Dubbed Amazon Braket, the service provides remote access to quantum computing simulators and real quantum hardware. In December, the firm added support for Pennylane and introduced a new tensor network simulator that could simulate 50 qubits on Braket.
In line with the efforts to expand the accessibility and usage of quantum computers, Amazon Web Services (AWS) debuted a new blog channel dedicated to quantum computing today. It will be a place where the company plans to share technological and scientific developments in quantum computing. In addition to that, tutorials, customer stories, and experiments will be highlighted as well. In the first blog post, Simone Severini, the director of Quantum Computing at AWS wrote:
On this new AWS blog channel, we’ll share insights as the field develops, including information on some of its technological and scientific developments. To keep things practical, we’ll showcase customer stories, tutorials, and introduce experiments you can run yourself. In addition to AWS technology, news, and opinions, we’ll give a voice to the quantum computing community, from groups building quantum hardware, software developers, algorithms designers, to researchers.
AWS' quantum computing blog seems similar to other dedicated newsrooms like Microsoft Quantum and IBM Q's research blog that focus primarily on highlighting quantum research and technologies. The last few years have courted a lot of support for quantum computing and while it is still early days, industry frontrunners are investing heavily in realizing commercial-scale quantum computers. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for quantum computing.
